a ton of people on cc are applying to ivies. jw, are a lot of people applying to all of them? i don't really understand why someone would apply to all of them. the same person can't possibly love them all.
how many is everyone else applying to? what made you choose them?

i'll start:
i applied to 2: harvard, brown
-i visited them, talked with people who go to each one, found programs i would love to be a part of, love the locations

i applied to 1: yale
-i would have prolly applied to princeton and penn had there not been extra essays and SAT IIs required. i love yale cuz it's very liberal and has a high gay population, fantastic scholarly atmosphere, and good economics program. i just wanted to see if i could get in too and it was common app so i said why not.

Of course, many people apply to the top 10-15 schools blindly based solely on rankings and prestige...so I'd say many students apply to several Ivy League and top ranked schools

For one, I applied to Columbia, Brown, AND Dartmouth, and all three of them are significantly different from one another.

My reasoning: It was important to go to a top school with high caliber students, and that increasing the number of top schools that I could decide between would be better.
