For athletic recruits, are FA reads automatically shared between Ivy League schools? i.e. resulting in similar reads.
Nope…you can, however share what FA package you receive from one school with another school for purposes of matching awards.
It is not a negotiation. However, you can ask for a financial review including how schools may have looked at certain situations out of the ordinary in your financial aid package.

Thanks. I’ve actually just been through the FA pre-read process from an athletic perspective with HYP and had 10 pre-reads over 2.5 months. It was difficult, time-consuming and stressful. We ended up saving over 30K at university of choice, but decisions we had to make, based on the current FA information we had, led to losing 1 university as an opportunity. Interestingly, at no stage did I share a FA pre-read. H and P actually said they were not interested in seeing the reads from other Ivies and they did not ‘price-match’, only act on additional information - of which it transpired there was a lot they needed to know about our financial situation that was not included in the forms initially provided. Y was interested in knowing the FA pre-reads from HP, but they were leading the pack so it didn’t matter.
My question more relates to does Y FA department share directly with say H FA department. I would assume absolutely not?
In our case our YFA pre-read was requested by another Ivy. That Ivy’s coach said directly their FA department would match Y offer. I never doubted his claim but it ended up being a non-issue as my DS decided Y was his first choice. I would assume on some level the coach would have to furnish his FA department with the better offer info otherwise how would his FA office be able to adjust their offer?..A coach couldn’t make that call on their own.
You can share the info, but the schools cannot share your private financial information.
Harvard and Princeton May have said they don’t match bc they most likely give the most to begin with but I know for a fact when I got my pre read for Columbia they had a separate section and a separate part I had to fill out detailing my recruitment by Princeton so that then they could use Princeton algorithm and we ended up getting more after the fact than Columbia had originally said
