I am a male swimmer interested in swimming at Brown, Harvard, Williams, Bates, Amherst and a few other colleges. Applying this fall.

First of all my academics are strong. I am in year 12 ,Junior year, currently doing three A-Levels (at the moment I have AAA after my January AS modules, I am predicted A*AA) Maths, Chemistry and Biology. I have done my SAT subject test in Biology-M and Chemistry - 710 and 720 - I take SAT I in October. Do you think 1900 is a strong enough score to aim for?

As for swimming, I am a Junior International.
My times are: 100 Free (Long Course metres) - 51.89, (Short Course metres) - 50.62
50 Free (Long Course metres) - 23.78, (Short Course metres) - 23.10
100 Back (Long Course metres) - 59.10, (Short Course metres) - 57.96
100 Breast (Short Course metres) - 1:06.82
100 Fly (Short Course metres) - 57.88
50 Fly (Long Course metres) - 25.57, (Short Course metres) - 25.12

Does anyone have any advice for me? Are my scores good enough? Are my times good enough? Is it likely a coach will help me out with admissions? What scores are required to be recruited for Harvard's men's swimming and diving? How much can a coach help me with the admissions process?

Many thanks for your help! :)

P.S. All times shown are in metres not yards! Thanks

A 1900 on the SAT 1 won’t cut it at Amherst (or Williams) – not even close, really. Should be OK for some (but not all) of the Ivys, so long as your times are competitive (I can’t do the conversions to SCY in my head).

Should’ve mentioned I’m being recruited by the colleges mentioned above. SCY times about 45.10 - 100 free, 20.5 - 50 free, 51.9 - 100 back, 51.8 - 100 fly

Spyro71–That’s great, but until you get your SAT 1 scores, all the “recruiting” at the schools you list is mere idle chatter.

3 A levels with only one A* is thin for Harvard (most UK applicants including recruited athletes have 4 A levels and more than one A* predicted)-- but if Tim Murphy wants you AND you can get the SAT 1 up in the zone then perhaps–significantly north of 1900-- you might want to check the ACT, if there is a testing centre near you. But you have to be very high on his want list.

Spyro71- Presently Harvard does not have any internationals on their mens swim team.

With a SAT score of 1900 you would probably need to have at least USA swimming summer Senior Nationals cuts for Harvard.

Taking the SAT in October of your senior year would be very late for Harvard. You would miss the summer pre-read by admissions which means you would not be offered a fall official visit. By the time you received your SAT scores the majority of the swimming likely letters will have been issued.
