Alright someone be honest w me I have a 33 on my ACT (36 ENGL, 33 reading 31SCIENCE, 30 math) I’m a sophomore and my unweighted GPA is about a 3.7 and my weighted is around 4.4. I play varsity soccer I’m in beta club, national honor society, math honors society, English honor society. I also just started a non profit program in inner city Memphis to teach elementary students how to read and write as well as provide books for them. I’ve passed all My AP classes with 4’a and 5’s by the time I graduate I will have taken AP PHYSICS 1 and c and BC calculus AP human geography ap US government AP chemistry AP language AP literature. I will also most likely take the Math SAT II subject test. How do y’all think my chances stack up to eventually be accepted into a school such as Vanderbilt, Princeton, Cornell etc.
Your stats are good. You want more leadership in your ECs and more awards. Pick a subject that you like or that you are good at and pursue it. Build ECs around it
First off, you’re only a sophomore, so don’t stress whether you are going to get in or not. Secondly, your GPA is on the low end for Ivies and top schools. Be aware that there a tons of applicants applying with 4.0 GPAs. Your ECs look pretty good, and your AP classes look pretty good. Try raising that GPA and possibly even that ACT/SAT score. If you do that and write stellar essays, your chances of getting in would be significantly higher.
In addition to the information above I have also applied for an internship at st Jude children’s research hospital. Although The program is extremely competitive and I won’t know whether or not I was selected for a while, assume for the time being that I have, and how do u think that boosts my application
too early to see but I think you would be a competitive applicant. Try to get some major awards and do something unique.
Your ACT score is average for Ivies. GPA is not too great and ECs are frankly nothing out of the ordinary. A 30 on the Math part of the ACT is a little low. Work on that, and that should help you prepare for the math subject test. Bring that up and get an 800 on the Math subject test and then you will have a chance. I’m not going to beat around the bush…you have some work to do but if you come out strong next year you’ll have a chance. Good luck!
