Ivy League Undergrad Engineering

Are there any Ivies with a good undergrad Engineering program other than Cornell/Princeton/Columbia? What is the ranking of their programs?

For engineering, you’re probably better off goung to flagship State U. That’s were employers go to recruit engineers.

Engineering is one of two undergraduate programs ranked by USNWR. At engineering schools whose highest degree is a doctorate:

  1. Cornell
  2. Princeton
  3. Columbia
  4. Harvard
  5. Penn
  6. Yale
  7. Brown
  8. Dartmouth

Schools are also ranked in engineering specialties.

it sounds like you are working backwards…ivy is most important too you.

look for a great engineering school and worry not about the silly “IVY” tag.

any of the above will prepare you with an amazing education. and you can enjoy yourself at the same time!

@zobroward I’m not just looking at ivies, I was legitimately just wondering how they held up with other schools since there is sorta a preconceived notion that ivies are bad for engineering, and google wasn’t being very helpful lol.

When I think of engineering, most ivy league schools don’t come to mind other than Cornell. Try Purdue, Northwestern, or, if you’re lucky, MIT.

All the Ivies besides Dartmouth have well respected engineering programs. Dartmouth isn’t really bad either.

It’s not that the Ivies are weak engineering schools, it’s just that public engineering universities traditionally have much stronger and older programs than the Ivy League. Also many private STEM schools are “better” than the Ivies for engineering. Of course strength depends on the particular engineering discipline. Cornell and Penn are great for Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering. Yale, not so much. Columbia is highly bio-tech focus. Princeton, like Cornell and Penn, is very good overall but has no engineering school per se.
