Ivy League with bad Q1 Freshmen grades?

Hi I am currently in the ninth grade and am worried about my grades for getting into an Ivy league school.

First Quarter:
Spanish: C-
Chorus: A+
Social Studies: A+
English: A
Biology: B
Gym: A
Algebra: B

Second Quarter: So far all straight A’s in every subject

The reason I had difficulty the first quarter was because I had just moved and had to deal with having no friends because of not knowing anyone and trouble adjusting but now I am well adjusted into high school. I’m not usually a bad student or anything, I just had a bit of a rough time these past few years. I’m so far taking Cooking Club and Track but will take more in the future. I’m going to take harder classes such as honors and AP for next year and take a double math so I can finish with AP Calculus.
I have two family members who have already been to the Ivies but I’m not sure I’ll get in....

Do you think that if I continue to keep my grades up, did volunteer, extracurricular, difficult coursework etc, then I’d be fine? I’d prefer honest answers as opposed to false hopes and reassurances.

Btw, my school apparently doesn’t “believe” in class rank, so I can’t ruin that either for me with my bad grades

Actually based on those grades I dont think you will get in. Colleges want to see that youre taking hard classes for all 4 years of high school. None of those classes are honors.

I was just making it generalized, but yeah, besides English honors, the rest are all normal classes…
So basically I have no chance because of that?

Uh, you’re in 9th grade and you are posting? Go do your homework enough to get into honors classes. Algebra, unless you mean Trig/Algebra II, is not the highest track for a 9th grader at most HS. You need some counseling and help to get on a path that might work for you.

OK, I will definitely try to get into honors classes and consider other college options as well. Thank you for replying and for that insightful advice. However, I find your first statement to be totally irrelevant. Yes, I am in 9th grade and I am posting on a COLLEGE ADVICE website, not a dating site. I don’t know about you, but I ,and anybody who is “college smart”, always had a firm belief in researching and preparing for college as early as possible and if according to you, I can’t even start during my first year of HIGH SCHOOL, where everything starts to count for college, then I don’t think un-prepared people will get far in life without pre-research and factual information down and learned. I see kids as young as 6th grade, maybe even younger, on College Confidential asking how they can start even at their young age, when colleges don’t even look at their performance, to prepare for college and excel in high school. You can say that I might not get in, if that’s the absolute truth, but saying totally pointless and pathetic notions about my grade and posting on this site is neither appreciated nor necessary.

I simply asked if i could get into an Ivy league College, not if I was at the proper age for this site, which on a side note, I am well past the age for this site.

You need to take all honor/ap for the next 3 years and score at least a 2250 on the sat to have a chance.

OK, thank you for the help. Guess the only way to find out is to wait until 2017-18
