do you absolutely need sat subject tests to get into any ivy league or are they just highly recommended??

Needed. 2 for Columbia.

It is not only ivy that requires the subject tests Nick

depends on the school, read the fine print. at columbia they are required.

It depends on the school. But almost every selective school you encounter (including all the Ivies) require 2 SAT subject tests. Why do you ask, OP?

Yale takes the ACT plus writing. But given that you consider yourself to be an Ivy aspirant, shouldn’t you be finding this info out on your own?

Really: it’s only eight websites

i dont aspire to go ivy and i probably know more than you as a matter of fact im asking people like pwoods who actually went there and i dont know what OP means lol

op = original poster.

OP,
Oh, the irony. While I appreciate that you consider me something of an authority, I’m only a freshman at Columbia. The information I gave you comes from Columbia’s admissions site, along with my own experience. However, T26E4 is an Ivy alumnus and admissions interviewer. I highly doubt you know more about admissions to the Ivy League than he does. He knows that applicants who do not take the effort to research a school’s policies rarely get in, and he mentioned this very diplomatically. The fact that you immediately went for an ad hominem attack and told him off indicates that your attitude may hurt your admissions chances. I hope you would not react the same way were T26E4 to interview you for admission to his alma mater.

So why ask the question?

The info is clearly on the admissions website. You don’t have to have gone to the school to know their policy on tests.

i apologize for the attitude, my friend thought it would be funny to say this but clearly it was a mistake to let him log onto my account to see this forum for himself. i am not sure if i want to apply ivy i just thought it wouldnt be a bad idea to submit maybe one ivy league application and someone had told me subject tests were only recommended and i thought maybe, because this is a late decision for me to apply ivy, that i could get in without them. although i did not consider how hard it is to get in even with the subject tests. i apologize once again for the inconvience.
