Ivy League????

What are my chances for ivy league like Yale, Princeton, Upenn, MIT, Cornell and Columbia?? Since I got deffered from Harvard Early Action

My stats:
SATs (800M/620V)
SAT2s (720IC, 720USHis, 800,Chem)
Rank (1/478)
GPA: 104.32 weighted

EC: Captain of Math Team, President of Asian American Club and Co-President of Robotics.

The verbal may be slightly low... may need more EC's... being a valedictorian will help... but remember, the Ivies turn down 1000+ valedictorians a year... Good Luck

your ec's are lacking a bit, and sat's aren't high enough probably for MIT and Yale

"104.32 weighted"

Lol, I'd almost be valedictorian at your school =(.

We have a dozen grade nazis in my school so our Val has a 108.7, but no life or EC's or class difficulty (compared to me =P ).

I saw your SAT's are close enough to be competitive. Goodluck and remember for MIT Interview and Personal Qualities are just as important as SAT's.

Rejected at Harvard, Yale, Penn, Princeton and Columbia. Possibly in at MIT, and I'd say a decent shot at Cornell.

Frankly, you really don't seem to be that interesting a candidate. I'm extrapolating from your post the possible quality of your essays. HYP, Penn and Columbia all like to see candidates who are either extremely well-rounded, have good/great ECs and have good personalities. You seem to lack all three.

Which is not to say you won't get into at least one great school.

I'll guess. In at Cornell. Probably in at Penn. No at Yale. Possible at Princeton/MIT. Columbia rejects 91% in RD. I'd worry that you would hate the core curriculum at Columbia. If you think that that is a big reason to go there, I'd send them a note to that effect.

620 is too low for HYP, and probably Columbia. Your WELL below the 25% in verbal for those schools(80 + points)

even at MIT, your 60 points below the 25% for verbal.

Penn is a reach, cornell is a slight reach, all the others are super reaches.

there are SOOO many people who are just as qualified at HYPM + Columbia, but your somewhat competitive. You have a shot, but don't hold your breath.

andrewxue, do you have any hooks? state residence or urm?

also, how were your essays and rec's?

"andrewxue, do you have any hooks? state residence or urm?"
I doubt he is an URM as he is president of the asian americans club. :)

Your SAT M+V are below average for all but Cornell, and you V is well below average for that school. Your class rank and SATIIs probably compensate a bit for that. I'd say you're about an average applicant for these schools, so you have about average chances:

Yale, Princeton, MIT and Columbia - about 10%

Penn - about 20%

Cornell - about 30%

I hope you were wise enough to apply to some less competitve schools also.

Well i didn't included all of my EC because then it would be very long. I am also the Lieutenant Governor of KeyClub for all the school on my island. I am also on the volleyball team, yearbook, and went to Boys's state in the summer. My brother goes to Columbia so I might have a better chance there. and i got 5 Chem, 5 US his and 3 US Euro.
