What are my chances of getting into an ivy league college with the lowest final grade being an A-?? i'm going to 10th grade.
Thanks in advance. :P

As long as you don't have too many A-'s, it's just fine, don't worry. Also, freshman year is really early to be thinking about this.. lol..

Too early to tell. There's a lot more to an ivy league admission than lots of A+'s and they probably won't penalize someone for an A-, because heck, it's an A.

you guys are so naive
one A- means that you're guaranteed a rejection letter from ivy league
you shouldve started preparing for college at least 3 years earlier
you've been in high school for over a year and you've just started thinking about college?

... An A- isn't going to kill you. I know college students who passed high school with 8 Bs and made it into Harvard. Take a chill pill, people. Too many people with perfect, if not almostperfect, stats on here...

One A-? Haha, start looking for community colleges!

futureiceskater-
I hope someone puts a lock on your computer so you can't access the WAMC area until January 2008.

oh, be nice, all of you.

futureiceskater, they're all just kidding around. you know what they mean (unless you're horrible at noticing sarcasms here on CC)...just relax! you have PLENTY of time to think about college..maybe the beginning of your junior year....until then, enjoy yourself and don't take yourself too seriously..do what you like, work hard in school, etc etc.

Is this thread serious??

There are much more factors that must be taken into consideration besides grades. And no, one A- isn't going to kill you.

Anyone who tells you that one A- is going to kill you is completly insane. Let's be realistic, it's the second A- that really gets you!

(JK)

I've known people who've gotten Bs and gone into ivy leagues...

Same here... It also depends on your extracurricular actives as well as your essays!

Don't know about anyone else, but I was pretty serious when I said that. Really, calm down, because even the straight As get rejected from the Ivy League. You can't do anything about it. So either way, it's pretty much a lottery.

I agree with you kchen..

If i were you, i would be stressed....For your not going to any IVY league.

futureiceskater, most good colleges do not view A-s any differently from As or A+s.

Can you still get into a top school like Harvard if your freshman year GPA was just a tinge over a 3.0 but you were straight A's for your sophomore, junior and first half of senior year? Would you still have a pretty good chance, considering that you have no weaknesses in other departments(recs, extracurriculars, are a minority, etc.) Just wondering...

Of course. That is a big improvement, and colleges love big improvements. Maintaining that improvement is a plus, too.
