Ivy Leagues?

So I just got my ACT report back today and I got a 27, and signed up to take it again in June. I'm really nervous that that's gonna be the detractor from my app.

I'm a straight A/ AP student with a 3.9UW/4.6W, and my recommendations and EC's are stellar. On the chance that I dont get my ACT up by application time, could it break me?

I'm shooting for Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Princeton, etc.

Have a blessed day :)

For HYPS, unless you have an outstanding hook, those scores will break you.

Try the SAT, and study up! Good luck!

I think that you can certainly improve your score in the next month.

bump…

You’ll definitely need to improve that score. If you’re looking for study tools, I’d suggest Kaplan’s online programs; I’ve found that they work much better than books, although they’re pricey. Good luck!

Yes, you probably need to improve your standardized scores.

Also, remember that ‘stellar’ extracurriculars for you don’t mean stellar for Harvard (and other schools). These schools get many applicants who have their own corporations, published research, INTERnational awards, etc.

If your ACT score is as good as other things that you’ve claimed, you will have a better chance. Usually, schools will accept scores after application deadline.

bumpity bump bump.

Instead of signing up to take it in June, you should really focus on improving your score by the beginning of next year through tutoring and practice exams.

There has to be a reason you are not living up to your academic potential on the ACT. Do you have testing anxiety? Have you tried the SAT? Do you have enough time to finish the sections? Did you not prepare enough? Diagnose the problem and fix it. You won’t be ready by June, but you can be ready by next school year.
