I find that individuals who structure their entire high school career around getting into HYSPM usually fail. Not always, but usually.

ivies (outside hyp) are overrated. there are other great and equally hard options such as stanford, duke, johns hopkins.
so first piece of advice: dont start off thinking that ivies are the ONLY great schools.

howdypal and llortami: I know that it’s possible that you won’t believe me, but I’m really not “that kid” who does everything solely in order to get into college. I really care about what I do and I have a great group of friends that I hang out with all the time: I’m a real person. I know that Ivies aren’t the only good schools in the nation; in fact, there are many schools that are better than them. The reason I didn’t include that in my question was because if I did, it would say something like “Do you think I could get into top tier schools such as Stanford or Duke or Yale or CIT…” and I think you get my point. I just wanted to let you know that I DO understand what schools are like in reality and I’m not that focused on trying to get into college. Just wanted to ask the question on here to see what people thought.

CalvinTBOD: I think that you’re taking this a bit too personally. I’m not trying to make you mad: I really didn’t think my comment was that provocative, but you’re reacting quite strongly to it. I know that I’m a good runner and it seems like you think that you are pretty talented as well, but there’s nothing else we can do to find out who really is better considering that I’m probably never going to meet you in the future, so I think that it’s best that we leave it be.

But I have one suggestion: Don’t go around putting down other peoples’ interests without really knowing anything about them. There’s already so much unkindness in the world, why add to it?

That post would be relevant if I were in fact mad.
Besides, me mocking Track wasn’t really a personal insult to you.

“I’m pretty sure you’ll get laughed at if you go around saying you’re in Varsity Track. Mainly because it’s a walk-on sport, and there is only one division.”

I’m not personally insulted by this, but it was a pretty rude and nonconstructive comment nonetheless. And even though you’re denying that you were angry, in my opinion you sounded pretty defensive in your next comment. Sorry for interpreting your post wrong, and I think we can leave it at this.
