ivy tech transfer

Hi guys! I'm currently a student at Ivy Tech and I'm at a sophomore standing. I'm hoping to transfer to IUB next fall for my junior year. Well, to get to the point I don't know anyone in Bloomington and I'm not entirely sure if staying in a dorm as a junior is the "norm" or not. I don't want to seem older than everyone else and I think it would be easier for me to meet people at IU. Do a lot of upperclassmen stay in dorms? It is considered unusual?

hey man whats up, im at ivy tech-bloomington too, but will transfer to IUPUI not IUB, i think you’ll know why just because of my major ( Business Adminstration ) haha.

What’s your major btw?

There are dorms/apartments on campus that primarily house upperclassmen.

If you are transferring to IU as a junior and want to live in the dorms, I would primarily suggest Wilkie, Eigenmann, Ashton, or Union Street Center. Honestly it is much cheaper to live off campus and finding roommates is normally fairly easy. Once you are accepted the IU classifieds in OneStart have around 100 different people looking for roommates. You can set up times to meet with these people and see if it would be a good fit for you.

i’m majoring in elementary education by the way and i would like to minor in german, but ivy tech is sort of hindering that because they don’t offer german.

and i feel like living on campus would help me get more acclimated to “real” college life. i don’t know i could not get accepted, everything is up in the air at this point i really do appreciate all of your input though!

Oh well “if” there isn’t any chance with IU, I think Indiana State has a good elementry education program.

Since you’re attending the Bloomington’s campus, there is a lady from ISU that comes every week I think mondays and tuesdays from 11 till 1pm in the student commons you should check with her.

Good luck.

If you want “real” college life, then I would go with Eigenmann or Ashton as dorms. They have mixed grade levels and even graduate students. Wilkie is fairly quiet and little better than living off campus. Union is new and I have no idea what it would be like.
