What is the best way to approach an ivy to ivy transfer?
The ivy I want to transfer to is 4 places higher on US news, and more selective (+- 5 %), but I have a specific reason why I want to transfer (a dual degree program that is offered at one and not the other.)
Any advice would be appreciated!

I’m worried about the fact that my main reason for coming is the Harvard/NEC dual degree program. Seeing as NEC isn’t even part of harvard do you think they will see this as a legitimate reason?

If the reason why you would transfer is a specific program, it makes perfect sense for you to apply. But you will need to apply separately to NEC, and you might not be admitted. Is it worth it to you to try to transfer to Harvard knowing that you may not make it into NEC?

You may be better off looking for similar dual degree programs at “non-Ivy” institutions. Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, and U of Cincinnati come to mind. Check the Music Majors forum for more: [Music Major - College Confidential](Music Major - College Confidential Forums)

Thanks Happymomof1, that’s very helpful.
I will definitely check all of those out.
Any imput on the Columbia/Juilliard program (besides the fact that it’s nearly impossible to get in)?

Any ideas?
I would really appreciate anyone’s thoughts!
