I am hoping to be recruited to run in the ivy league, and i am curious to know if college coaches can still provide some benefit with admissions even if they cant have you on their limited list of recruits. and do only the top recruits get "admissions help"?

If you are an outstanding academic applicant, the very slight tip from a coach’s “help” may be of value. If, however, admissions has tons of great track recruits with stellar academics (very common), then you might not see any advantage.

I’d recommend that you concentrate on an Ivy that can offer you recruit’s “slot”. Or, emphasize some other talent besides running in your essays.

so the coach can provide a “tip” to interested and good runners who he would like on the team, but aren’t tippy top recruits?(he cannot get them a slot)
and what exactly is the “tip with admissions” he gives?

Teddy, in Ivy recruiting the only thing that you can really hang your hat on is a Likely. A “tip” may or may nor have any value. If that’s the best that the coach can offer, you should proceed as if you have nothing at all. (Continue contact with other schools)
