Ivy Transfer Cornell --> Penn

Hello everyone,

I am a freshman at Cornell University. I applied to Wharton as a transfer. I am applying for an intercollege program combining BBB+Healthcare Management. I want to hear about your opinion on my chance.

Here is my stats:

Cornell:
Current GPA: 4.15 (Major GPA: 4.30)
Performed a research in Organizational Behavior, and the professor who guided the research recommended me to transfer to continue the research (my research is very rare, combining biology and management. Only UPenn offers such a program).
Courses Taken:
Microeconomics
Organizational Behavior
Business Microcomputing
Writing Seminar
Calculus II
Courses Being Taken:
Macroeconomics
Advanced Business Modeling
Managerial Science
Introduction to Linguistics
Financial Accounting
Midsemester grade: 4.15

Two recommendations (one from Econ professor and another from my research advisor are very excellent.)

I am an equity analyst at Mutual Investment Club of Cornell and have done many service activities at Cornell.

In this winter, I garnered internships at an international trading company.

My high school stats:
Private HS
GPA: 4.00 1/69
SAT I: 1370 (V570/M800) NOTE: I moved to US three years ago.
SAT II: MIIC790/CHEM780/WRIT580
President of various clubs/organization
Lots of community service
Research in chemistry

Thanks!

WOW! 4.15 GPA in grade deflation school like Cornell!
You're in right away.

Cornell grades on a scale of 4.3... right?

Yes... A+ is 4.3 A is 4.0

cornell has grade deflation? since when?

Not sure ... but mean grade for most of my classes was B-/C+

Any opinion?

ahha ur simon's friend.

You too! Alan lol...

He lives right next to me... What a small world! lol

I think you have a great shot. Try to get a good internship on Wall Street.. cornell has great alumni connections. Go to career services.

I think you have about as good a shot as anyone. I mean I don't think anything guarenteed with Wharton... but one really nice thing you have in your favor is an excellent reason for wanting to transfer there because of your research.

Although I don't know how much the opinion of an Ithaca College student matters to you. ;)

Seriously though, I was drawn in by the journalism program, decided to switch to finance or economics and am trying to transfer out because the quality of the students isn't that strong outside of a few programs. The school also seems to focus more on a few programs. The journalism department is great, but once I decided to switch my major, I wanted to leave.
