Ivy with a C in Freshman Year???

I just remembered that i had one c in bio honors in freshmen year. Im currently a junior with a 2300+ sat score and around 3.7+ gpa(from 9-11), 3.87 gpa (from 10-11)

BUT WILL THIS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE CHANCE I HAVE TO GET INTO IVYS??? Holy crap i worked so hard these years and if i dont get into ivy for a stupid mistake i made in freshmen..... omg

Obviously, it pulled down your GPA, but that effect is already in the numbers. If you take two people with the exact same GPA, I’ve got to figure it’s pretty clear that one with a C freshman year (and a rising GPA generally) is at least marginally better looking than the one that got exactly the same mix of As and Bs every year.

Maybe instead of freaking out about one bad grade, you should be considering why you want to go to an Ivy League school so badly. You most likely will not be rejected because of one C; however, you may very well be rejected because competitive schools reject a lot of people. What then? What if you don’t get into an Ivy? Will it be the end of the world? No. I understand you have worked so hard and have this dream of going to one of these schools, but they are not the end-all-be-all of universities. I think it may be time for you to reevaluate your college search process.

BBBBUmp

It depends on the Ivy. Maybe ED Cornell has a small chance.

^^Not even sure if that was sarcastic.

OP, why are you bumping? Does there really need to be any more discussion. The first two responses provide pretty great answers. Stop worrying. Your GPA is still pretty good, even by Ivy standards. I also want to reiterate that Ivy schools aren’t necessarily the best for you.

@Woandering‌ thank you. I know that Ivy arent the best for everyone, but I at least want to give it a shot :)

Probably not, as long as you have an upward trend.
