Jack Kent Cooke 2017-2018 Undergrad Transfer

Hello!! It’s that time again.

Creating this Thread to keep in touch with everyone applying to the JKC scholarship this year. The application process is extremely stressful, it’s nice to share mini panic attacks with other applicants.

Feel free to ask Questions, share thoughts, and give advice

Hello, @CoolCake! I just made this account to join in on any JKC scholarship conversation! I had no idea what tge scholarship even was until yesterday, when someone brought it to my attention - I feel it is fate that’s led me here and it’s worth a shot to apply! I hope you have a great application journey, and an awesome semester at school!

Definitely post if you hear anything about webinars for this year’s applicants - I think they had one last year and it would be great to check it out! Thanks for making this thread! :slight_smile:

@auddreams Hey! :slight_smile:
Glad you joined. I’m currently in the process of applying. Are you as well?

@CoolCake Yes! And I just realized I had a typo in my very first CC forum post - this is going to be an interesting journey!!! :)) definitely keep me updated!

Did you get to the short essay parts yet? I find it interesting that it’s only 600 characters!

@auddreams

@CoolCake Yes, I’m beginning to look at them. I find that interesting. too! I’ve also been reading last year’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship thread - it is extremely intense and informative!!! Let’s hope we can get a past Scholar or two to jump in with suggestions and advice as we move through the process! :slight_smile:

Hi! I’m applying for the scholarship as well. Even the application process is exciting and terrifying (I’m thinking of how to start a successful nonprofit in the next month lol). Good luck to both of you!

@hammak lol haha… Right! i’m losing sleep over this. Welcome and Good Luck to you too :slight_smile:

can i still apply if i have a 3.48 gpa? :frowning: do they round to two sig figs?

The same thing happened to me last year, but unfortunately I wasn’t eligible. Try to call them or send an email, they may change the rules this year. @otoribashi

@coolcake aw man that sucks :frowning: i dont know if i wanna go through the hassle of calling though… is the gpa what we have right now or what we will have when fall semester ends?

Glad to be joining all of you. I just checked the page and it says the scholarship application hasn’t opened yet; is that right?

I believe it opened on the 25th

@otoribashi I believe it’s the gpa that you have by the time you submit your application. I mean, you never know!! or an email if you prefer

@Jay37p Hey!! The undergrad transfer scholarship is open! Is that the one you’re applying for?? Deadline is October 25

@CoolCake whoops! My mistake, I was looking for the Jack Kent Cook College Scholarship :smiley: Is there a page for that one yet? If not, I’ll start it

You could start one if you’d like…

@CoolCake but dont we submit the application in the middle of the fall semester (october)? im guessing my gpa will stay the same by then lol

Hello,
I also started the process of applying. It would be beyond words if I got it. However, as much as I would like to think I am a strong candidate, there is always that nagging feeling that there is always someone smart out there. Haha you can tell I am a real optimistic! Nonetheless, I have told myself that I will apply and make the best application of myself that I can, lose some good nights of sleeps, and be stressed for the next months even more. If I am meant to receive the scholarship I will, and if I am not then I won’t. At least by applying, I know I gave it my best. I want to wish good luck to everyone that is applying ! we will all definitely become very close as the thread becomes bigger, and the stress of the wait! Just to know that while reading this thread, by the end of it all, lives will be changed. People that had hopes of going to college will finally have the fund. That is one of the reasons why I love this scholarship so much, doing a good deed for good people!
