Jack Kent Cooke 2017-2018 Undergrad Transfer

I am the same way, not being able to check the “I invented something that helps people” or “I have started a company that helps people” makes me feel so insecure. I want to be realistic when I think about my chances, but you and I both have to stay positive! I totally agree that the people who ultimately receive the scholarship will be a very deserving group of talented people. I am so grateful to even be in the running and to have the ability to apply. Good luck to you!

@bellabella1997 It’s good to be optimistic! The application alone is stressing me out. But yes, like you said… lives will be changed. Some of us will get it, some won’t. But that’s okay because there’s a right time for everything. I appreciate your optimism

HOW FAR ALONG ARE YOU GUYS WITH THE APPLICATION???

I have done everything except upload my tax returns and submit my short answer questions. My parents and teachers are working on their portions of the app now

@hammak that’s awesome. Same here… Working on these essay questions

I did not realize how little 600 characters for a short response question is! For the “steps you’re taking to improve the world” question, are you guys taking a bullet-point approach? I picked two to explain in more detail, but barely had enough space to have two sentences of explanation.

Hey guys! I finally found this thread, I am so nervous and excited about this scholarship. @bellabella1997 and @hammak; don’t worry, I’m right there with you. I consistently worry that my essays aren’t good enough or that I might not look as good as they want me to be. I guess it’s just my anxiety kicking in but this is something that I know all of us would really love to have.

As far as the application, I’m still struggling with one of the essays, literally have worked on it ever since the application opened and I’m still lost. October 25th is coming so fast it scares me

Good luck to all of you! I sincerely wish you the best. This will be a headache hehe

@hammak so sorry for late reply, I haven’t been on here in a while. Since there’s so little space to expand the essays, i wouldn’t choose two. Whichever one you feel that you can explain the best, go for that one.

@hustlemuscle Welcome to the thread! same here with the essays

I am freaking out as the deadline approaches. I feel like I still have a lot to write!

Good luck to you as well! this thread is a safe haven.

HAS ANYONE SUBMITTED YET?

I’m going to submit today! Waiting on my professor to submit her recommendation, and finishing up revising my essays.

@CoolCake submitted on Friday! What a journey - excited to see what’s next!

@auddreams Awesome! good luck!!

I’m planning on submitting tonight… still working on essays

@CoolCake Thank you - and that’s fantastic, best of luck!

Just submitted! I am so relieved. There’s definitely that doubt in the back of my mind, but I’m going to remain hopeful  Good luck to everyone!!

Hey everyone! I found out about the jcks about 2 wks ago and worked tirelessly on finishing. Luckily I found professors willing to submit recs in the short time frame, upload all required docs and completed my app. Good luck everyone!

After re-reading my essays like crazy, I finally submitted the application today. Good luck to all of you!

Good luck to everyone! I submitted my app 3 hours before the deadline and I’m glad it’s out of my hands now.

Hey guys, I also applied this year. It’s only been a few days and I’m already very anxious lol. Not looking forward to all this waiting.

Also, I’ve read there’s gonna be semifinalist notifications going out. Do you guys know when or how that works?

From what I saw on the webinar, they will be spending quite a bit of time checking if all the components are completed and doing verifications on various parts of the app. They said around April (I think?? Don’t quote me on that!) they will send out emails to the people chosen as semi-finalists.
