Jack Kent Cooke 2018-2019 Undergradate Transfer Scholarship

I did too - 2014-2017, but they asked for 2016

Here is a portion of email requesting more information. I had already submitted 2016 tax return but they asked for it again??

Here it is:

Financial Information – Income and benefits, assets, self-employment information, and financial circumstances (e.g., business losses, extraordinary family medical expenses, expenses for disabled children).
Your 2016 Federal Tax Return – Complete forms, including W-2 form(s), schedules, and attachments
We have included in this form the 2016 Federal Tax Return file you uploaded with the original application. If you would like to upload an updated version, you can remove the file that appears and upload a new copy of your tax

@room4more Looks like the ones that some others received. When did you get the email- was it sometime at the end of January?

I received that email as well. At the end of January.

Yes! Jan 24

So any idea why they would ask for 2016 tax return if they already had it?? They also asked (again) what universities I was applying to??

Yeah, mine was January 24th as well. Not too sure, maybe they had a list of applicants whose material wasn’t fully complete and notified them on the same day. It’s anyone’s guess really, it’s hard to really “predict” on these things since it seems every year comes with its own “quirks”.

Wish i had found this forum much sooner! I honestly just concentrated on getting through my last semester, i had 2 huge classes i needed to pass, Algebra and Biology. After I got the email from JCK about financials, I never thought about it again. I did look up some information, but just off their website, etc. Which brings me to a question: I had a 3.91 GPA when I applied, but it is not that now; which one do they look at? The one you had when you applied? Also, I wasn’t a PTK member when I applied, but I am one now, wonder how to update that?

scholar alum creepin’.

i think a lot of us secretly browse the CC forums and won’t admit it.

so aren’t decisions supposed to be released soon?

i want to do this whole tod browning routine where i invite the new scholars to a banquet and hold a secret initiation ceremony.

i can’t wait to learn everything about you all and be completely devastated at how brilliant everybody is.

@optimisticky Seriously, I’m one of your biggest fans :)) I remember you from one of the previous JKC threads and your posts had me in stitches hahahaha

I’m super excited to hear back from them! From last year’s thread, I think the earliest someone heard back was April 6th. It’s important to mention that their -college- notified them of the decision, suggesting that the Foundation probably sent them out even before that day.

They’ve been pretty quick with things this year so I can see something similar happening this time around!

@AGoodFloridian - My college is on spring break the week of the 9th, so Im crossing my fingers we hear before then! Its crazy to think that someone at my school will know before I do.

@optimisticky Yeah! It should be any day now. They seem to be a little ahead of schedule this time around so it is possible finalist announcement could also be a little ahead. Either way, April is almost here!

Thanks for joining in

@AGoodFloridian nice. i actually think i’m the spotty banana in the scholar bunch though, secretly poisoning the others. :frowning:

also i love your username because you’re one of just two floridians i know that are good. jk.

(i used to live in tallahasse.)

decision day is great. i wish i could whisper charms into the selection committee’s ears for you all.

@TexasRosé_ any day now! stay hyped!

i love the social supports that emerge in these forums. can’t wait to celebrate your achievements. and if anybody is coming to philadelphia, look me up!

@optimisticky You gotta introduce me to that other one, because I definitely can’t find any
You’re a re-occurring theme on the JKC UT threads, it’s almost a tradition now! :))

Have you been to all of the Scholar Weekends ever since you became a scholar yourself? How fun are they?!

@AGoodFloridian yes, a tradition of me not having a social life outside of the internet.

also your meta florida joke is fire.

i haven’t been to them all. i’ve been to two. you can’t go to them all unless you’re a VIP, i guess. my first year was mostly me walking around in a stupor trying to take it all in. also there’s unlimited soft serve ice cream and pastries.

it’s sort of like what i imagine summer camp would be. you find that group of people who you gravitate towards and spend the entire weekend glued to their side and staying up until 3-4 in the morning crying, laughing, celebrating.

last scholar’s weekend, there was a party outside my room. i felt like i was chosen.

(but i wasn’t invited. :frowning: )

so on a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being really fun) they’re a solid 10. they spoil you good.

Well damn, if that isn’t a reason to get super hyped, then I don’t know what is 8->
They say this year will be one of the smallest scholar groups -only 45, give or take- , but I can’t wait to see how amazing of a group it’ll be. I’m already imagining the videos of their reactions finding out, hopefully their colleges publish them!

That video may or may not be from my own college surprising last year’s scholars <3

These last few posts have been awesome lol

btw, @AGoodFloridian that video was amazing!! It ramped up my anxiety a bit, but in a good way!

@AGoodFloridian I’m not even going to lie, I might have already watched that video more than once. Last summer consisted of many youtube reaction videos and my own day dreaming. lol.

@“TexasRosé_” I CANNOT watch anymore of those. lol. They are just going to make it rough if I don’t win. Im just here waiting anxiously for SOMETHING from the foundation! I wish we had more people around to say if they hear anything. I am friends with all of the semifinalists at my college, and everyone is on edge.

Hello Everyone,

Another Semifinalist here. I’ve been anxiously following this Forum for a while now, and thought I should join in on the discussion.

@AGoodFloridian , thanks for creating this, it’s been very helpful (as soon as I read about the glich I signed on to see my dashboard).

Best of luck to you all!!
