Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship Semi-Finalists 2015-2016

Hi guys! I think we’re all wondering how many semi-finalists there are out there, and what we’re up against. If you received a semi-finalists email, let us know on this forum! And if you’re really brave, throw out some information about yourself.

I got the semi-finalist email March 8.

Community College: California
GPA: 4.0
Parent’s Income: $80,000 a year (this part might’ve killed my chances?)
Lots of volunteer, leadership, and awards.

Best of luck to everyone!

DON’T REFUSE TO GIVE UP

Got the email March 8th.

Family income: 19k a year household of 2
Very involved on campus and served in leadership positions for two political efforts in my state
Started a political/cultural website

I’m also anxious to hear if anyone else has received a follow up email yet?

I just tried to call to check the status on my application and it went to voice mail. Did any of you leave a voicemail and get a call back?

I called and checked to see how many people are semifinalists and they said it is about 400 hundred people. :frowning:

On the other forum someone called and was told that there were 150 semifinalists. I actually don’t care how many semifinalist there are. At this point, all there is to do is just wait for about two weeks as winners will be announced early April.

@PreMedSci16 Sometimes it takes them longer than expected. In other words, it could very well be mid/late April.

Last year, schools had until April 28th to contact winner, and the foundation made official phone calls on April 29th. We were also told that results would be early March, and every time we called they pushed it back a week or two. So hang tight, stop pestering the foundation for results, and focus on those finals!

So no one has heard from them yet? I was expecting a reply by the end of March so I have been refreshing my email every hour.

@TheTreeHouse it is my understanding that we should be notified within the next couple of weeks.

I read on another post that someone received a call yesterday. He was a finalist. So the calls should start coming,

I believe that the calls that have been coming are for high schoolers. The foundation said they are running behind, and the transfer students won’t know for a few more weeks. Hoping you are right though, @Hope2achieve

I read in an article from March that said 613 people were named semi-finalists. May the odds be forever in your favor!

I read an article that said there were 613 semi-finalists. Good luck everyone.

@PsycholoGy1 – Wow, that’s discouraging. Can you send us the link to the article?

Yes, @PsycholoGy1 I cannot find this article. Please do share.
