Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship- 2011

Hey! My efc is 0. I made about $7,000 in 2009 and less than that in 2010. Yes, I am officially dirt poor. LOL!

haha well this is one of the few times it pays off :)

When is shredd going to get back from his meeting with his jkc representative!? i’m dying to know what happened!

Hello everyone I can’t believe I’m the first to find out, but my advisor just gave me the great news!!! I read the e-mail suggests to tell the student during a special time, but my advisor knew I was dying and promised to tell me as soon as she found out. I am so excited, I really hope that all of you get it as well you all deserve it.

If any of you get it and would like to stay in touch with me, my facebook name is Dannaculhane.

Good luck to all of you!

Congrats!!! Omg!

I just got into rice university…i really hope i get this so i can go…

pls someone tell me whether they got the notification? becoz even if i don’t get it, i know i don’t need to wait

I GOT IT GUYS.

I went in today at 10:15am, they said they had a few more questions for me. I walked in, a news station was there, I flipped OUT!!!

I got it!!! For any school I choose!!!

I can’t believe this yet.

oh yeah and I’m a girl!!! (not a he, lol)

Congrats Shred!!! :D

I heard that the recipients are notified by the end of this week. Those that did not get the scholarship will be notified in the first week of May.

I’m really nervous…

Anyone else hear anything yet?

Nothing yet. I called and they said they have not notified all the recipients yet. And I emailed the representative at my school and begged her to let me know asap if she hears anything…

:(

haha! sorry, shreddr! i kept thinking of shredder from teenage mutant ninja turtles and viewed you as a guy! lol

i’m thinking that i didn’t get it. i wish they would just let the recipients know either way. if i got it, let me know directly. if i didn’t, don’t make me wait longer to be disappointed.

I also emailed my advisor in hopes that she had some news… but nothing… I really think they should change the notification policy, and just announce it all at once - both good and bad news! congrats shreddr! southseattle - did you get notice from your school as well?!

EFC question - I’m 24 with an EFC of 0. I only made <$2000 last year :frowning: which worked out at least for getting grants.

I was also looking over the website to see if there was a transfer scholar with my major from previous years, and couldn’t find one! (though there were a few Grad scholars with Neuroscience “interests”) I keep thinking that should be a plus for me, but at this point… oh… I just need to know so I can put my full attention to studying for my finals.

oh and southseattle - i never gave you hours and the like, only how I stay relaxed! I get about 6 or 7 on the couple days I go to school - I just pack the classes on Monday-Wed. then get a usual 8 hrs the rest of the week. I dont really have much of a social life since this semester started. I travel a lot to my parents (they just live an hour away) and stay there to help them out around the house etc, so I usually end up driving an hour to school and back most days, so that further cuts into “friend time”. I’ve made do with seeing friends after classes esp the people that are involved in the same clubs and organizations as I am. I honestly had to take a break with my boyfriend since he also lived a few hours away - I just didn’t have the time to travel all over the state! As far as study hours go - im sorta like heyitslisa - i focus a lot in class and spend minimal time doing homework, and ALSO usually a night or two before it’s due  probably not the best way, but I’ve found it to work for me, because I sit down knowing that I HAVE to get it down, so I work hard, and tada, it’s done. Like right now - I’m working on a research paper on neuroimaging and schizophrenia that is due tomorrow morning haha.

did anyone on here apply to Johns Hopkins or Georgetown?!

I may not have good news (yet) from JKC, but I just got an email for my University of Virginia acceptance! I’m not sure though - I’m still waiting on GT and JHU, and was accepted to University or Richmond, and that place is just “magical” how’s everyone’s college acceptances going?!

I just got an email from the jack kent cooke representative from my school, telling me the president wants to meet with a small group of outstanding students to discuss the acdemics of the school or some thing like that. he said i should pick a day on tuesday or wednesday when i will be available. I don’t know what this means? I will just be open minded

Yay! I’ve just got accepted to UC Berkeley. But I still don’t hear anything from JKCF yet. :-(

congrats NNyugen! at least we are getting some good news here, eh?!

Congratulations to those who have been awarded (as disclosed via their respective advisors)! That’s such a phenomenal accomplishment–you should be beyond proud.

According to your messages, your advisors let you know–have you received any email from the JKC foundation yet?

Also, congrats to those who just received news that they’ve been accpeted to their school of choice.

For the rest of us, I guess tomorrow will tell all, huh? April 30th is the latest they have, right?

I am so nervous, I have been waiting just like you guys forever. I just want to get a responde whether I am awarded or not. The wait is killing me. I live in CA, did anyone from CA get a response yet?

Congratulations to all those who got responses. Good luck with your future aspirations!!!
