Jackson Laboratory SSP (2014)

neurobiology, aging, reproductive bio

Did/will anyone apply to other programs that still have upcoming deadlines?

Immunology, metabolism, research tools

Stem cells, cancer, aging. I’m not going to be accepted, though, so I guess it really doesn’t matter,

Bioinformatics, genomics, and neurobiology for me.

@SJallDay did you get the email in the evening or earlier in the day? I’m trying to decide when I should stop checking my email

@TrueDreamer I got it right around noontime

I guess just nothing today, then

@SJallDay was it individually sent to you, or is that it for acceptances?

I have an offer from another program. I’m now left to decide whether to confirm that I’ll go there or wait for a possible acceptance from JAX.

Have all the accepted people been notified already? How do we find this out?

@kitten23 why don’t you wait it out? it seems like this latest acceptance is fairly recent and I’d assume the program doesn’t require an immediate response. You should be hearing from JAX tomorrow or Wednesday, so why not have the best of both worlds?

@loyalty it was an individual message, and I know that all of the acceptances haven’t been sent out yet. @Kitten23 my best advice would be to email the other program and ask for time to make your decision - I almost accepted an offer from MDIBL because I hadn’t heard back from JAX yet, so I really suggest you stick it out another couple of days.

@sjallday wow, you got accepted to Mount Desert and JAX? Congrats, you must be 10x better than me…

I probably should wait, but I’m not sure. I actually have 2 offers on the table now (they just emailed me), so I feel pressured to pick one so the other program can invite someone else to attend…

I’d wait a day or two if I were you, assuming Jax SSP is your first choice!

@kitten23 if I may ask, which programs do you have offers from? I am curious if any other of the programs I applied to have sent out any decisions

@SJallDay would you mind telling us what you wrote in your essays? also, I’m just curious, which state are you from?

@jaxhopeful I got accepted to two different gov school programs so far, but not in super competitive state like NJ or something, although I guess it is decently difficult to get into… Idk, I attended their science program last year, had a great experience, and now applied in a few other disciplines (of which I’m leaning towards engineering…). I was in a biochemistry lab last year, which is what I think I want to major in, but I thought I might as well check out engineering to make sure I won’t want to change my major half way through college.

Was it around noon eastern time or western time?

Has anyone heard of any acceptances today?

Radio silence. I’m interviewing at Farmington next week but I hoped to have a shot at the main/Maine program… Nothing to do but wait at this point. I assume they send out notification of rejection so I guess we all still have a shot right?
