Jackson Laboratory SSP (2016)

lol nope.

BUT OMG CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CLARIFY SOMETHING FOR ME? The website says that faculty writing recommendation letters have a grace period until next Tuesday (2/9) to submit a recommendation. But in the email I just received about confirmation of application submission, it says that recommendation letters have to be completed by Feb. 2 as well. I asked a teacher at my high school to write one for me and told her it’s due 2/9.

my question is WHEN DOES SHE ACTUALLY HAVE TO SUBMIT IT???

I am so sorry for stressing and freaking out, but I really need my teacher to submit it and I feel so bad for rushing him to submit in in less than 24 hours notice.

I actually had the same question, so I emailed him.

“There is a grace period on letters of recommendation. All application materials are due on Feb 2, but letters will be accepted until Feb 9.”

Oh thank goodness. Thanks @goldenstarx

@c0llegeb0und2468 No problem! Now it’s time to play the waiting game #:-S

~48 days…

Are any of you guys applying to other summer programs? :^)

Wow I’m also a high school junior! Good luck guys! I’m applying to RSI, NIH, and a couple local programs. Luckily for me, there is a fair amount of research opportunities where I live

@OneMata Cool! A lot of mine are local as well.

I don’t want to disclose where I live, but there are very little research opportunities where I am

Who did you all get recommendations from?

@happyalldatime I just got two of my teachers from this year to write my recs (math and science). No idea how good they are though.

Do you think that the recommendations carry a lot of weight?

Mmm no clue but they don’t ask for much other information, so I think it would be better to have good recs.

Anyone applying for cancer, stem cells, or neurology?

@swiftninja Me! I doubt I’ll get in though, so hopefully I get into the other programs I’m applying to. Preview of college rejections wooo! :))

My S also applied. He is HS junior.

Based off of what I’ve seen in previous JAX threads, I think they take the majority of high school students from Maine.

Did you guys have a campus preference? Honestly, I would be thrilled to get into either. Both of them seem really chill

I didn’t, and I feel the same as you do! 8->

does anyone know how to check what our recommenders wrote if we chose the option to not waive the recommendation?
