How do these programs work?

If you were accepted ED, when do you find out if you have been selected or if you are being considered?

Do you have to apply to be considered?

Thanks!

You do not apply to The Cornell Committment programs - candidates are chosen and notified in a "likely letter"
The Jacobs award is pretty new but it sounds liek it works the same way and is the Engineering school's asnwer to Tanner Dean scholars in A&S

If we didn't hear with our ED letter, does that mean we're not being considered?

Wow, that would suck if they already notified ppl accepted by ed

Exactly...this is where I wonder if applying ED hurts as they don't have to try to make it more exciting to go if you apply RD and you find out you qualify for one of the programs.

surfgirl- my d was admitted to ILR a few years back during the rolling decision period in Feb. She was notified about her acceptance into the Tradition program in April after the official 4/1 acceptances were sent out.
It is possible that notification for the Tradition/commitment programs are not sent out until after the official acceptance notices are out- (but I can't be certain)
and she did not apply for it- as she wasn't even aware of the program.

why don't you make a new post asking if any Committment , Jacobs or Tanner Dean (the older A&S version) Scholars were ED vs. RD.....that would help answer that question...tho if no one posts it doens't mean there weren't any, just that they aren't posting here - my daughter never posts here.

i applied ED last year and was notified of my acceptance to cornell and the tradition program at about the same time.

there we have it...

I don't want to believe it!!

I found out few days after RD results that I got admitted to RCPRS and I applied ED two years ago. It would make sense if they did that few days after RD results though since they're only trying to pull out 50 or so people out of the entire pool and then they'd get a chance to see the entire pool and just not some of them.

If you're really interested though (which I think you are), I would suggest emailing the director of the program of which you are interested in so that you could be considered. They might not reply to you but atleast they'll have your name and consider you whether it be in April or now.
