James Madison Math Program and a couple other things

Well I just got accepted into JMU and I was wondering if anyone who goes there knows anything about the math program that they have?
I plan to study business w/ math minor or in the quantitative finance major that they have there.

I was also wondering if I could get some general feedback about the school.

I have also got into VA Tech and I was wondering what made you guys attend JMU over VA Tech, or if you just got accepted into both what school you are leading towards and why. I still can't really make up my mind I'm about 50/50.

Thanks

Ok, so I'm in the same situation that you are in but I am still awaiting decision from UVa. If you stuck between the two look at what you prefer. Do you prefer a large school of 21,000 at Tech or smaller 14,000 at JMU. I guess both colleges are located at rural towns so there's no difference there. I also heard that JMU has security like no other and that what made me happy. I'd pick a safer school over many and it's even a smaller school. Ultimately, the choice is up to you. I recommend you do more research of the schools, attend the open houses, get those college books specifically for those schools like I did. After doing your research your choice should be clear. Congrats and Good Luck!!! :)

I have already visited both before, I don't really have a preference for the size, security isn't really a big deal to me, and I have looked over forums, websites, and books about them but still don't really have any idea. Thats why I want to hear more about what other people thought of both schools and there reasoning, just so I have more opinions to go by.

Also if anyone knows anything about the math program.

Hey alleyesonme, I don't know if you're still trying to decide but I can tell you what JMU offers as far as math and business go.

I'm an international business major and when I first came in I was also thinking about maybe being a math major or qfin, as it's called here. I would say if you love math and want to make a ridiculous amount of money, go with qfin. They are hired with the highest salary coming out of college here and I know that's really important for some people. Thier math program is really good too but also challenging.

As far as why I chose JMU, I won't say anything about Tech because of what they have had to deal with this week. That is a great school too but I know I chose JMU because it fit best with me and I really think that's the most important thing. Yes, JMU is small compared to some of the other Virginia schools but it's nice because you get to know alot of people on campus. But I would definitely say just see where you fit best, whether that's JMU, Tech or UVA.

Good luck with your decision!!!
