James Madison University

Hi I recently applied to JMU and I am super nervous about my chances there. I have a 3.52 GPA a 1610 SAT on all three sections combined, am an in state male student, work two jobs, am captain of the soccer and cross country team, a member of NHS, I am the youth group leader of my church, and a member of my parish council, in previous years my school has not offered AP classes so this year i took AP World History and honors physics and honors government. If someone could tell me what they think my chances are of getting accepted are that would be great!

JMU has become increasingly competitive - based ONLY on “numbers”, I’d call it as closer to a reach than a match. HOWEVER, I have never worked in admissions, so what do I know? More useful - did/have you spoken with (and can you? - I know nothing of sports recruiting rules) the soccer or X-C coaches (including try out as a walk-on)? Ask your HS guidance office if they have historical data (averages and scatter charts) on applications and admission decisions for JMU. It won’t be definitive, but may provide some guidance. Good luck.
