I went on the website and read about the James Scholar program. It seems it is has different criteria for each college. For engineering it says you need about a 33 ACT. For Business it seems to be a more holistic approach. Does anyone have any input or experience as to what it takes or what they are looking for in a James Scholar for the Business school? Like do you need to be in the top 5% of your class with a least a 32 ACT? Are there minimums they are looking for before they look at your EC's?

Just wondering....

I’m an LAS James scholar, so I can’t speak for the business James scholar program, but I do have a friend that was invited to join the business school’s program with a 28 ACT score. He was involved in a lot of ECs and held a leadership position in most of the clubs and organizations that he was a member of. He was second in the class behind me.

I would say that you need a fairly high ACT score (although I wouldn’t say a 28 is high), be in the top 10% of your class, and have a few good ECs. Yes, they do look at your scores first before looking at your activities.

I think you will get invited if your first semester of college freshmen year GPA is above 3.5.

ok thanks. I was referring to getting admitted before your freshman year into the Business school. I’ll just wait and see and hope for the best!
