My son and his roommate chatted and decided on who’s bringing what. S will be supplying a rug for the room. They’ve been assigned to Jameson. Can anyone give me some idea either the approximate size of the room or any advice on the size of rug. We’d get one down there, but grandparents have several nice ones - if the’re not too large.

Jameson’s in Keeney, so the rooms are going to be more than 200 sq. ft. There should be a site where you can look up the floorplan…

[FileFactory Folder view - Brown Floor Plans](FileFactory)

This has the floorplans for Archibald, which has the same types of rooms as Jameson. Last year they had 3d renderings of most rooms on the reslife site, but I can’t seem to find them this year.

I’m going to be in Jameson too. Anyone have any general things to say about the dorm?

I was also in Keeney last year (Mead House), and since all Keeney is identical, I believe my room was 194 sq. ft. and yours will be too.

Your room will have the door in the middle of the entry wall, with a closet to either side. Then you will have a bed, desk, and chair per person, and a window opposite each closet. And an overhead light. And linoleum. That’s all you get.

It’s not luxury. But it’ll do. A rug will be nice… but how on earth do you plan to transport such a large piece of fabric!!! I assume that means you’ll have a car. It’d be best to wait for move-in day, look at the room arrangement that the roommates agree upon, measure, and THEN buy a rug.

I lived in Archibald this year and let me say - Keeney was the best thing ever. I mean yeah the bathrooms SUCK and there can be some barf in the halls after parties, but its an amazing social dorm and you meet such great people. I feel bad for you if you live in the basement but you’ll survive. My room was 200 sq feet and was really really great in my opinion. You can buy a large rug from this carpet guy that comes to campus on move in day… I got one that covered almost my entire exposed floor for around 30 dollars.

Anyways, enjoy!

Jameson basement isn’t bad! I had friends who lived down there. Much quieter than the rest of Keeney (a plus, trust me).

Hey, ResLife just came out with the 3D views (you need your Banner username and password):
[Test Page for the SSL/TLS-aware Apache Installation on Web Site](http://reslife.brown.edu/residence_halls/floorplans_3d/index.html)

The room I just got an assignment for today doesn’t currently exist, or at least not in the 3D view, anyway.

Does anyone have the floor plans of Keeney-Mead (specifically third floor) so that I can try to figure what they converted into a triple?

There are always vendors out on the street on move-in day selling rugs.

That’s the floor plans for most buildings.

Thank you, chsowlflax. That site wasn’t letting me into it yesterday.

Great site - thanks!

I love how big my room looks aiee!
