I am interested in applying for the JAMP program. Does anyone know of how competitive it is to be selected. Or if you were selected to be a part of it was your gap fairly high? And if you were selected for JAMP would you have any tips for a student who is an incoming freshman this fall?
Never heard of it

Is this what you are referring to? I have no knowledge of it, but any FREE medical program is very competitive and any medical school in US will confer the same degree(MD) and residency, The graduates from Harvard works hand in hand with the graduates from Porto Rico or Howard.
@juicyjay, in reading the above link, it says about the program that it is, “to support and encourage highly qualified, economically disadvantaged students pursuing a medical education,” so I guess the question is whether you are economically disadvantaged as defined by this: “Provide documentation and history as an economically disadvantaged applicant. The definition of economically disadvantaged is financial eligibility for Pell grant or an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) up to 8000, calculated from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA), unless other evidence of economic disadvantaged status exists.”
