Jan 22nd SAT scores mailed in...

I just got my scores from the 22nd, and I'm stunned. I only missed two on the Math section but my score dropped to a 740. Now based on the normal conversation from raw score to actual SAT score in the 10 Real SAT Book, there is no way it could drop that much...

Did anybody miss just one? How much did you drop then? And why is this one scored so much tougher than all the practices tests in the 10 Real SAT book?

I was normally under the impression that you can miss one and still sometimes get an 800... : /

I missed four and got a 740. Did you omit any? That's the only way I can see how you got that low a score with such a high raw score.

That's the thing... I didn't omit any according to my score sheet from the mail. I was almost certain I had missed 4 or more because that seemed to be the trend for a 740ish score in the past, which is why I was so shocked to see I only missed 2.

Should I call in about this and ask? -_-

you might have gotten an 5 choice wrong and a 4 choice wrong, which would drop the raw score to 57, which sucks.

Assuming EPorrell was talking about the Jan22nd test... his raw score is at most 55. Normally in the math section, 55 and 57 don't have the same score when we are talking about the same test... if it was different test dates, I can see it sometimes being equal (not very often, but possible), but not on the same test...

I don't know. Maybe I'm making something out of nothing but I simply just can't understand it : /

I got an 800 on the math part and I missed one, but I got a 520 in verbal. I'm happy though because I'm only in 7th grade

Can anybody else post their score and how many they got wrong if it is around 700ish? I just want to get an idea if I'm being stupid or have a good reason to call. I know I'm sounding... desperate (almost) but it would help a lot. Thanks. -_-

i didn't take the test, but that does sound weird, i'd give them a call tomorrow if i were you

TinyEinstein...SATs...so early..?

....WHY????

hey Klogon... your scores is exactly like my friend's. Last time he took the test (dec), he also got 740 w/ 2 wrong answers. But I remember when I took the test in May 2004, I got 780 w/ 2 wrong answers. I don't really know how they calculate that. hope this helps!

Probably the math part in January was really easy so with only two your score falls. Something similar happened with verbal part on dec testing

S got 710 Math- 38-3-1 (raw score 37) and 16-2-0 (16) for geometric reasoning.

I took the SAT as a 7th grader because of the Duke Univesity Talent Identification Program which lets 7th graders take the SAT or ACT and if they get a certain score they can go to some couses in Duke University during the summer.

Jan. 22 SAT

I got 700 math (6 questions wrong, 1 omit)
I got 650 verbal (9 questions wrong, 5 omit)

I took the Feb 5 SAT and still haven't gotten my score report back (even though my scores were up within 5 days.) However, I am pretty sure that my raw verbal score was 78 and my raw math was 58. Two questions away from the holy grail! ;)

No fair...I got a 660 on math and I missed 7 and omitted one......I hate the SAT!!
on verbal I missed 13 and skipped 1.....660 too

i got a 780 on the math. i haven't received my scoresheet(feb 5th SAT), but i'm pretty sure that the hardest math section i had was the experimental one. So i think i got around 1-3 wrong, didn't omit any(omitted 1 on the experimental).

I got a 780 and I missed two 5-choice questions. Considering this, there’s no way the OP could have only missed two questions and received a 740. My raw score is 57 as well.

Alright thanks for the responces. I'll call them this weekend.

Now that I think about it...since our raw scores are the same, you probably took the version of the test with a easier math section, thereby resulting in the lower score. I had the Native American Novelist version of the exam. I assume you received the other version? Although regardless, 740 for 57 is a bit too harsh...
