I was told by the admissions office at Carnegie Mellon to rush my scores (they're reviewing applications now and if they don't get them in about a week they told me they might not get them in time) but I can't find out how to do it! It seems like you can only rush the scores once they've been posted online! Is there another way to rush (or mark them for rushing) now that I don't know about? Any help is appreciated!

I assume you are talking about Jan test scores which are not out yet. Carnegie (CM) bases its advice on old, outdated rules. It receives scores through electronic delivery. The fastest way to get Jan test scores to CM when they come out is to designate CM as one of your free sends for the test socres in your application. If you have not done that do it now. You cannot order a “rush” score until after they are released to you on-line.

Here is what happens if you designate CM as one of your free sends: Two days before the scores are released to you on line, College Board (CB) delivers them electronically to CM by placing them in a secured on-line account that CM has with CB. Receipt then simply depends on when CM decides to go into that account to get scores.

If instead you wait till scores come out and order a rush send, the rush order will get priority but could take a day to two to fill after you make the request; CB then electronically delivers the score as above. In other words, the rush score gets sent anywhere from 3 to 5 days after the score would be sent if you just designate as a free send.

Note, if what you are trying to send is prior scores, such as Dec or before tests, then you need to do something entirely different. You need to stay away from your registration for the Jan test and instead go into a prior registration and order scores sent rushed. In that situation what you would see are tests you can send that do not include Jan scores and that you can do it rush. If that is what you are trying to do and cannot figure it out, call CB tomorrow and they will tell you how to do it.
