*January 2010 SAT Thread*

January 23 - ahhhhhh!!! i’m scared.

The December exam was really difficult. I just hope this one is averaged or not too bad. Please CB… there are seniors who are retaking it last time to get their scores up.

One week from today!!!

woohooooo.

omg! I’m so nervous. Please help me with the essay. I just put up a question in this forum. Please help!

I always struggle on the essay. I can’t seem to think of 2-3 solid examples for a lot of the prompts.

I’m a little worried about the essay too (first time). I’m generally a strong writer, but I know that finding adaptable examples in a hurry is going to be a challenge, even if I already have some “pre-determined”.

I’m also a little worried about the essay, but i know that if I feel confident then I’ll get around a 10 or more. I felt that I did terribly on my last essay and got an 8. My biggest thing to prepare for is CR, but considering that last month’s CR section was really hard, hopefully CB gives us a break next week. Does anyone have a good strategy for CR (omitting, reading patterns, etc) that have really helped to get a good score?

I am super weird; I’m actually looking forward to discussing the test on CC after the test. hahahaha

^^ haha, me too dillbilly123. Except I know that as soon as I come on this forum I will feel as if I failed the SAT. After the PSATs, I knew almost exactly what my score was within one day from this forum.

Ideal SCore - Probably Score - Low End Score

2100 - 2000 - 1900

haha i want to discuss the test on cc, but im afraid that i will fail… so i don’t know if i am going to or not haha

i’m taking it on the 23rd too :/on the mc writing questions i’m doing pretty good but i’m having trouble with the essay
i came up with and reviewed four possible examples to use (american revolution, american civil war, the scarlet letter, and the adventures of huckleberry finn) but i’m so sure that on the day of the day, i won’t be able to apply them to the question
advice???

good luck, everyone :)

This is my second time taking it. Took one in December and was unsatisfied with my score. This time, however, I believe I am 99% ready for the test. I took the practice on the practice booklet today and scored a 2380 (and a 2400 if I did good on my essay).

I think I am ready for this!!

How do you guys know the essay beforehand?

What do you mean?

LMAO! I highly doubt that considering your grammar.

“did good” can be grammatically correct.

Lol silverturtle. Way to use your grammar powers to beat up CCers. Haha I like it.

I wasn’t going to do it, but you have emboldened me, so:

cookiemonster7, you, too, have erred in your use of grammar: in your post #140, with which you presumably intended to connote the irony of Sadaila’s post, you omitted the necessary comma before your participial phrase, which adjectivally modified “I,” the subject; the corrected form is:

“I highly doubt that, considering your grammar.”

Moreover, your use of the demonstrative pronoun “that” has no clear singular antecedent. Unlike relative pronouns, “that” cannot function as an pronoun for entire clauses.
