January 2011 - Biology (E/M)

tough, as always! lol
for the one about the leaves & the iodine - did you put that leaf ii was creating carbs?

what did you guys put for the one that makes up the most of the body? ( i forget the exact wording) - the answer choices were carbon, phosphorous, oxygen, hydogen, etc etc

lmao thank god I left the plant thing blank lol… aww man already messed up the kidney thing… haha… so -1 T__T. did anyone take M… just wondering how it was?

oh, what did you put for why it takes long for the immunity to happen? (something about lymphocytes etc)

O and how many Chromosomes does the mom give… was it suppose to count the X chromosome too?

yeah…its jsut half the normal chromosomes, right? 24

wait!! on the test - weren’t there 24 pairs of chromosomes?? it was kind of confusing, because i always thought it was just 23 pairs of chromosomes…

hahah yea. i freaked out for a second and went back and counted it like 3 three times. Its just not a human karyotype. the same rules apply tho.

I wrote 24 for that one also… but it was really confusing…And I didn’t understand if when they said chromosome they meant pairs or what…?

Just to ease myself… what did you get for the.
. How many chromosomes are in the Somatic Body?

i think 48. we’re still talking about the karyotype pic, yes?

"A simple definition of a somatic cell is that it is a non-sex cell In humans, somatic cells contain 46 individual chromosomes, organized into 23 pairs of chromosomes. " (Wikipedia)

lol…so whats the answer…?

oh, what did you put for why it takes long for the immunity to happen? (something about lymphocytes etc)

i said that something w. the spleen and novel differentiation things, lol

lol, 46 wasn’t even an asnwer choice i think. pretty much, the somatic cell would have all the karyotype chromosomes = 48.

46 = human somatic

but thats in humans, the karyotype wasnt of a human because there were 23 pairs of autosomal chromosome plus the XY. at least thats how i thought of it… i hope i didnt read tht diagram wrong o.O

for the karyotype question : what was the answer to the 3rd question? about the abnormal gamete & the normal gamete

Gah… -_- I was tempted to leaving all 4 of those chormosomes questions blank.
"oh, what did you put for why it takes long for the immunity to happen? (something about lymphocytes etc) "
im guessing that was in Molecular? I don’t remember that question at all lol

Oh and does anybody know the answer to that question that was like :
I tree is protected from vines and insects because a certain species of ant takes in the nectar the tree produces. The choices were something like :
convergence, differentiation, succession… etc etc.

i put something about the already differentiated lymphocytes?

and just to make sure: the question about trisomy, was it 25 or 49 chromosomes?

for the abnormal just plus one so 49? its like downs syndrome…sorta

the tree one is almost def coevolution. i checked in barrons afterwards.
