January 2012: Math Level 2

For the parabola opening up, I said a > 0. For which equals 1, I think it was I and III.

The answer for the bacteria was like 13781 or something like that. Answer choice E.

^ I and III agreed. Also a > 0

bear:
I think xquicksilverx is right: III works, too: sq rt (sin^2 (2x) + cos ^(2x)) =1.

Average for remaining scores…I think I got something like 21.6.
And the trig, I put sin(2x)csc(2x) and sqrt of sin(x^2) + cos(x^2).

Oh yeah 21.6

For the limit question, I got 5

I thought it was just sqrt of sin(x^2) + cos(x^2)?..

Sin(2x)Cos(2x) definitely doesn’t ALWAYS equal 1…

I thought sin(2x)csc(2x) worked because sin and csc are reciprocals of each otherrr.
And same, limit question is 5.

Hiking:
Wasn’t it to infinity for the limit? Or was that another problem?

Somewhere
Yes, sin(2x)cos(2x) was false, but since sin and csc are reciprocals, sin (2x) csc (2x) is true (ie always 1).

Somewhere, whooops. I made a typo XD. Sorry for the confusion!

bear
Lim was approaching 2

I got 21.6 for averages and 5 for the limit. I don’t remember infinity as a limit in another question?

And oh shoot, can anyone confirm what choice III was for the trig question? I thought it was sqrt(sin^2(x) + cos^2(x))…

Yes, but why is the answer 5?

There was one with a table and you needed f(f(x)) to be 6

What you think for choice III is right.
I made a typo in my previous post saying that sin(2x)cos(2x) was a right answer (choice I) but I meant to type sin(2x)csc(2x).

When you factor the numerator, you can cancel out the x-2 and you end up with x+3, so you plug in 2 and get 5.

bear
lim (x^2+x-6)/(x-2) = lim (x+3) = 2+3 = 5

Omgg stupid mee. Why didnt i factor???
