Please if anyone had experimental section other than writing, please tell me what was the theme of passage to improve?
Omg it was assert a previous claim. There was nothing unorthodox about the usage and there was nothing dubious or assumptive about it.
What was the theme of the passage to be improved in writing section?
It was about farming if I remember correctly .__.
@XiaoAh what was your expermental section?
Do you mean the one about “time saving”? I’m pretty sure that it is “dubious” what claim did it support?
B. Support a previous claim
» Not the answer because the passage didn’t mention anything about traveling resulting in shorter spare time until after that sentence.
C. Acknowledge an unorthodox term usage
» Most probably the answer because it goes on to explain that faster means of travel have in fact resulted in people having less amount of time than what they usually had, which is contrary to what “Time-saving” means.
D. [Something] … Dubious Assumption
» What was there to be doubtful about? The author wasn’t assuming anything, but rather conveying his opinion in a decisive tone.
Correct me if i’m wrong.
I have the Dec 2015 SAT google doc.
Reinforce previous claim has 13 votes
Dubious assumption has 6 votes
Unorthodox usage has 1 vote.
The author was being sarcastic when he put it in quotes because the machinery didn’t actually save time.
Hello everyone…I wanted to ask that apart from the new blue book, should I buy any of the Old SAT material (like the Critical Reader Book or Barron 2400)? Moreover, what are some other good books for the New SAT prep? @Beshara
@wajid5 Mine was CR. It’s about birds and mammals
@Learner12388 we’re most probably correct. the author hadn’t mentioned anything about the pace of life until the quotation marks. if not then collegeboard has to owe me a nice explanation to it. period.
@XiaoAh what was the experimental section of reading?
@wajid5 I’m not sure what you meant. You mean the content? I remember there’s a long passage about birds and mammals but that’s about it .__.
People are just too stubborn to recognize that they get some problems right and some problems wrong.
Sorry of writing?
@collegepappy @Learner12388 You guys are entitled to your own opinion, what’s done’s done. However, I believe me and @bsdsj22 look at it this way:
“time saving” is dubious (doubtful/wrong) because the author argues that transport has ostensibly made travel shorter, BUT uses that to introduce the point that whilst we do get around faster, it has meant that we now travel longer distances = longer = time WASTED. Hence, ‘SAVING’ is in fact dubious since it is an ASSUMPTION that most people would have about modern transport
*btw i’m not doing a shouting voice in my caps, it’s just to focus the key parts of my argument.
Tell me what you think - agree/disagree… there can only be 1 answer haha
People aren’t assuming it. A word like misconception would fit more into that description @abc1688. An assumption is something that you’re not sure about so you think that something is = to something
If it helps you guys here is the book:

I am not confident in my answer right now, so i won’t assert my opinion…
@XiaoAh sorry i was asking about what the experimental section of writing?do you have any idea?
@wajid5
If writing was you experimental, then the first 35 writing questions are the experimental.
