January 2017 SAT Retake for cornell RD

Hey guys
So I’m a senior planning to apply to Cornell HEOP program (CALS). I currently have a SAT score of 1370 (640ERW, 730 M). I know that Cornell HEOP allows for lower SAT scores but I want to get a bit higher on my SAT so I am considering prepping for the JAN SAT. I called Cornell and they said that the scores for JAN SAT generally arrives in time for RD but is not guaranteed. Should I still take the January SAT then?

Any help is appreciated

If you really are dedicated to studying for a retake, and believe that you can increase your score (and have the money to retake) go right ahead. If there is nothing to lose, why not go for it?

But if you feel like your time would be better spent on your essays and other aspects of your application, you may want to consider taking that route. Your SAT isn’t going to kill your chances if your other aspects of your app are eye-catching.

Is an average of 7-11 wrong on the reading pretty bad?
