January 29th Math Question

<p>Hi I took the SAT yesterday and did anyone remember what they put down for this problem?</p>

<p>I think it was something like this:</p>

<p>A triangle ABC has side length AC in that AC has to be greater than 3 but less than 5. The perpendicular line from point B to side AC has to be less than 8. Which of the following CANNOT be the area of the triangle?</p>

<p>A) 8
B) 10
C) 12
D) 18
E) 36</p>

<p>What is the answer?? Can't you get all those areas? Or did I misread the question?</p>

<p>My guess is (E) because (1/2)(8)(5) = 20, and since it cannot be 20 or above, 36 is not a valid value. I'm not sure, though.</p>

<p>was that experimental?</p>

<p>the formula is B*H / 2 ....I think you forgot to divide by 2. the answer is E</p>
