Boston College is the only school I’ve heard of that does this honestly. Every January, BC allows a few first time freshman in for the spring semester (application deadline November 1). From what they told me over the phone, very few students apply through this route (or even know about it, for that matter). I was just wondering if you could give me some idea of my chances of being accepted.
I was waitlisted last year regular decision. When I applied last year, my high school GPA was an 87/100 (took 3 AP’s in high school) and I had a 31 ACT (28 E, 27 M, 34 R, 33 S).
Between then and now, I was able to raise my ACT superscore to a 32 by scoring a 33 on the English. My high school GPA remained pretty much the same.
I also now have several new extracurriculars (including good work experience). I also scored a 760 on the SAT II and am currently taking a few classes at my local community college (with a 4.0), in addition to AP Biology and AP Calculus AB (with A’s in both classes).
What do you guys think? With a couple better stats/ECs and a significantly smaller applicant pool, will I have a better shot at being accepted if I was waitlisted previously? Do you think my HS GPA will still be a deal breaker? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
