I applied to Georgetown EA with only one subject test. In the likely chance I get deferred, I need two more. Should I sign up for December or can I wait until the January date? I can not find anything on the Georgetown website for the final testing date accepted. Other websites say January is allowed, but I can’t find anything on the official website.
Go here and read “Standardized Tests” section: https://bulletin.georgetown.edu/admissions. To assure that Jan tests arrive in time to be considered you should identify Georgetown in your test registration as a college to receive scores upon release (that results in fastest form of delivery). Also, before deciding date, check College Board’s lists of subject tests given in Dec and Jan because some given in Dec are not given in Jan, see https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat-subject-tests/register/test-dates-deadlines
@class0f2017 I can see where you are coming from with wanting to wait it out to see if you will need to take the subject tests, especially since it sounds like Georgetown is the only school you are taking these subject tests for. I think it’s a risk to wait until January but if you think you won’t be stressed by cutting it that close then you are probably okay. My concern is the results for the January test will not be released until Feb 23. I’d also consider what state you are in and what your January weather is like. Last January there were many states along the east coast where the SAT was cancelled. Good luck on your EA app!
@drusba It says “By January” so wouldn’t that mean before that? Also, thanks for the link, I missed that somehow…
@paveyourpath Thanks for the warning. I mostly want to wait because I don’t feel prepared for the subject tests in December. Waiting until after a decision would be really nice too. I doubt there would be enough snow for it to get cancelled where I live too.
@class0f2017 I think you need to read the “by January” in conjunction with the other portion that said so they have results by early Feb. I would take that to mean they are okay with a Jan test date but I would contact admissions and ask when is the latest you can take the SAT test for RD. The Jan test results don’t get released until 2/23 so they will not be available early February. I imagine they get this question from EA people every year.
The “by Jan” definitely means the Jan test. However, you best now check with Georgetown because I now realize what happened here. The Georgetown admission pages were updated for this year in summer. In late Sep, College Board changed all its test release dates for the 2016-17 testing season to dates later than originally given. As a result, one cannot assume the Georgetown pages are still reliable given the now later release date in Feb for Jan test scores.
