January Sat: Math II Discussion

I HATE MY LIFE (I omitted like 3) what did you getfor the one with the dot triangle thing and 8th term? 92?

@galaxyexplorer‌ Yes it was 92, you could have modelled it as an arithmetic sequence, but the terms increased by 3 each Un term.

What is the lowest raw mark it would be to get an 800 do you guys think?

Really? I got it right by some different method, but I didn’t think it was arithmetic. Did you get -2/sqrt(13) for sin theta?

Yeah the test was harder than some of the practice test. Still slightly easier than Barrons imo. Hopefully, there will be a nicer curve. I’m hoping that I didn’t make any silly mistakes haha, and yes, I believe that is what I got galaxyexplorer.

lol really? I got 92 and I approached it differently. I split the dots into triangles and rectangles. I don’t think it was a arithmetic sequence just from all the dots alone.

@galaxyexplorer sorry my mistake of course it was not arithmetic but it was geometric. You could have worked out the common ratio and then the first 8 terms and hence worked out the last term from Sn=geometric sequence.

Yes I did that was correct it was option choice B right?

God,
I overslept and got to the testing center 20 minutes late. I was half asleep when I started taking the test and forgot my watch so I couldn’t time myself as well. Arrg, oh well with a curve I should be around a 750 but I guess Im retaking this in May.

@fnaticMSiNate I’m pretty sure it wasn’t geometric either.

Debating whether or not I should cancel - that was harder than normal. I left 2 blank and was iffy on 4 of them.

Oh man I wasnt able to finish
What did you get for the line perpendicular to a plane problem? And the one where two of the options were x=y and origin?

Was the last one 24 or 20?

I think it was 20

Should I cancel as well? Only answered 33…

Ok at 3:00 after mostly everyone has taken it can we PM each other and collaborate on answers… I don’t know if I should cancel

@idkname yep I rectified what I said above

I’m pretty sure the last one was 24 for (4*6) and along those lines.

I skipped the blood pressure and #49 on the test. Some questions though:

For the question that was like for which of the following values is there only one real root and it was like 5x^2 + x = 3t, The possible answers were like -4/5 5/4 0 etc… (Probably not that close to it) I put 0 is all I remember but Im worried thats wrong.

Im trying to remember some other questions but I can’t at the moment. I was preparing for more ellipses, hyperbolas, arithmetic/geometric sequences but not really (By the way, for the dots I got 92 I think)

what was the last question?

@jetynz‌ for that problem I got -4/3. If there’s only one real root the determinant (b^2 - 4ac) has to equal zero, so you just set up the equation and solve for k. I think
