~~~~January SAT Official Math Discussion~~~~
how do you guys think u did?
math was not the toughest part, but there were some
tricky questions-
I'm so mad i couldnt remember this one.
(x+y)^2 = 100, (x-y)^2 = 16 whats xy?
.................dude seriously i saw this one of the prep books and i couldnt remember how to do it, but i think i guessed it right.. I dont remember the answer choices
The answer is 21.
x + y = 10
x -y = 4;
Lin. combination yields 2x = 14, thus x = 7. Then put x back in equation and find that y = 3. 7 * 3 = 21;
Do you remember that one question with "trifactors" or something like that? Does anyone know the specific terms for that question?
Anybody remember the one that was like .. x^2=4(y^2) and x=2y+1 ... or something like that?
There was two equations... and find: how many (x,y) values exist?
x+y=......
x+y=......
(a)none
(b) one
(c) two
(d) three
(e) more than four
(x+y)^2=100 (x-y)^2=16
the answer had to be 21 (or at least i think that was the answer)
7+3 squared is 100
7-3 equals 4 and 4 squared is 16
they asked for XY and 7 times 3 is 21
thats what i put
I got 21 as well.
was one of the grid ins expiremental because i bombed the first one
What was that rectangle in a circle question like again? It was like, a two rectangles inside this circle has a perimeter of 12. How many other rectangles can fit in the circle?
A)1
B)2
C)3
D) 4 or more
Also, there was a cylinder that has a diameter of D, and a heigh of H, what is the smallest(largest?) circle that can fit. One of the choices was like d^2h, one like dh, dh^2, d^2h^2
Question) Do you remember that one question with "trifactors" or something like that? Does anyone know the specific terms for that question?
It was grid-in question, I think.... I remember it was "9"
The answers were
4 or more
9
cubsfan23, I got 4 or more and d^2h
ldu1207, I got 9
Yeah, I figured it was 4 or more, because its a circle right?
did any of you guys get a section w/ a formula:
pi(6h^2/h) or something like that?
I'm really unsure on the answer to the question I mentioned above .. the choices were like
4
-1/2
-1/4
1/2
1/4
or something ... Anybody remember?
i actually got just 4 for that question
I got 1/2.
You guys are just posting the first equation. It was a system of equations, I'm sure!!!
I got 1/2 for that one as well.
1/2 here too.
To summarize.....
Section 2 : Math ( Grid- in -> It surely is not an Experiment, because collegeboard always give one grid-in section for real test)
Section 5 : Math (only Multiple -> There was on graph indicating two lines: CD / DVD.......// (a^6 * a^6) ^ n = (a^n)^3....something)
-------------> Section 5 is experiemental I think.!!
Section 6 : Math (only Multiple -> there was some picture and the question asks if this picture rotate to left 90 degree..../ Vann gram stuff/ there was graph asking how more ......May than combined January and February)
Section 9: Math (20 minutes question; of course it is not an experiment!)
I think I put -1/2 ... >.>
