~~~~January SAT Official Math Discussion~~~~
XD that venn diagram question is split
I don't rememeber, what i put for venn diagram, but I can remember atleast this that many people will get it wrong by only looking at one part of intersection btw the two asked (y and z right? I have a bad memory indeed) SO, as long as u added them up that'll the right answer. was is 4+3 or 7+3 simply can't rememebr.
OK, for the venn diagram problem, look at it this way. Why would SAT test the ability to look and read a number? There would have to be SOMETHING more to it. If I remember correctly, the venn diagram was not like the first problem in the section, so it had to more than just plain looking at a number. Thus, you also had to know that an intersection between x y z is still an intersection between y and z.
it didn't say x and y ONLY. i thought this question was a gimme and didn't even think twice about putting 10. just because the 3 is part of z also, doesn't mean it isn't a part of both y and z, which it is.
good point, sunshine_breeze
My vote is for 10.
Did anyone get a question that was like A B C D E on a line blah blah what is BC. Did anyone put not enough info? -
That answer was 1 if I'm thinking of the right thing.
OK, for the venn diagram problem, look at it this way. Why would SAT test the ability to look and read a number? There would have to be SOMETHING more to it
exactly..... its def 10 def
It is 10. The intersection of X, Y, & Z is also included as part of the intersection of Y & Z.
for the A B C D E: I thought it was not enough info because the space of CD could change and be anything and it would change the length of BC. But I was really uneasy about putting not enough info because well, usually there is.
I didn't have any "not enough info"s
and there is always enough info
what did you guys put for one of the last questions...the question was this weird shape with 10 squares, perimeter was k inches and area was a...and k=a, then what is k? that was really difficult
Erm, I might not be thinking of the right thing for A B C D E... The one I was talking about was numbers on a line, like AB was 8 and BC was 7, and you had to add a an X to make B the midpoint of AX or something. The letters weren't ABCDE, there was an R in there somewhere.
umm... for the triangle with XYZ i put like y = z as false or something
silfat, 8/5 or 1.6
iso triangle was x=z
the 10 triangles was 1.6
did anyone get 4/5 for that one on sec 2?
what was the exact wording of the question with the rectangle inscribed in the circle?
I put 7 for the Venn Diagram one as well...please say it's right, I'm already one down in Math anyway...argh, no 800 for me :( I'm pretty confident about reading this time, though.
XCotter, it was 10.
ya chronic i got 4/5ths
