Hey guys,
I just wanted to make this thread for the upcoming January SAT, so that we could share our strategies for studying, and also keep each other motivated!
Personally, I started reviewing significantly about a week ago, and am using the Blue Book, Erica Meltzer's Guide to SAT Grammar, Direct Hits/Hit Parade, and I may buy Dr. Chung's for math.
How are you guys doing so far?

Even im writing it on Jan
Well I am going to write 12 Mcgrawhill mocks under testing conditions till Jan.
Prepare from Direct Hits daily untill Jan.
Completed Kaplan 12 practice tests. Did all CR sections. left Math and Writing sections for last 4 tests
Did Barrons Writing Workbook. Read those Writing rules and maximized my writing score
Did few practice tests.
Now I have school exams, so will do Barrons tests untill mid december.
Then will open Collegeboard Blue Book. Do all the 10 tests. till SAT
If I have time, I will do additional Collegeboard tests from other links.
So plan was to do 40+ tests between September and January SAT. :)

haha… I now get ur name.

peach - I would check out Gruber before buying Dr. Chung
JANSAT - forget the McGraw Hill mocks, just use CB tests going forward, you’ll have plenty to keep you occupied until January

Any suggestion for CR, just got 550 last time in OCT.
Dual passage just kills me.

CHD2013: They are mandatory for me
Its good practice. I write them in my coaching centre Even if its not that useful, as CR passages are longer than usual in mcGrawhill, I get more practice as I do them under timed condiions.
Backtrack: I would suggest prctice Kaplan CR for a while.
They are a bit easier. They will give yu the boost needed
I started at 540 in the first Kaplan test and ended at 680 just by doing Kaplan.
I think that I would be somewhere around 650 in CR at the moment that really helped me.
I still have few months left. Would memorize few vocab and would try to pull it to a 700.
PrecociousMe : Yes :P

CHD2013- I have Gruber’s but I feel like the problems are a little too simple, they seem to not be very similar to actual SAT questions. I am scoring around 650 in math currently (haven’t done much math studying yet)

I have bought a Kaplan SAT book which is really helpful and completed a Revolution Prep class. Classes were very helpful, even if they are slow. It is much easier when a teacher explains a trick than to try and figure it out yourself. By learning from an instructor, you learn all of the tricks that repetitively come up and it becomes a lot easier.

glayla: I agree, Kaplan helped me a lot. But don’t forget to do the all important blue book and mor CB tests which I am asuming even you have saved for the last.

3 day weekend, time for some serious prep. right after my nap
i’ll let you guys know how much i complete these next 3 days

I find that Barrons and other prep books aren’t accurate to the SAT. For example, they do not follow the “area” rule in the real thing. Thus, I will practice by completing all BlueBook exams and finding past official SAT exams online.

I’m retaking it in January. Got a 2250 in October thanks to the SAT Prep Black Book, which I highly recommend to anyone taking the SAT. I had also gotten a 183 on the October 2012 PSAT, so the book speaks for itself.

Well, on the weekend I got a little bit done haha
did 2 sections of math 2 of writing, also did some vocab too. overall not as productive as i wanted.
today, just did a math section. i seem to be slowly improving like 1 question at a time.
most of my errors are surprisingly from medium questions.

I created a progress thread, as I felt that was more appropriate for the kinds of posts I would be creating you guys could check it out and join in if you wish!
