I eventually want to live in Japan, but I’m not sure about college. What US colleges have good programs? Any good Japanese colleges for foreigners? What would be a secure major?
Japanese is my first language, but I wouldn’t consider myself fluent since I’ve lived in America my whole life. I’m also a dual Japan-US citizen. How will that affect getting in? What about scholarships?
The Global 30 Universities offer programs conducted in English (http://www.uni.international.mext.go.jp/global30/)
and excellent Liberal Art Universities will balance professional, social and global skills.
Why not study in Japan?
iCLA (International College of Liberal Arts; http://www.icla.jp/en/home.html ) will open at 1 April 2015. Akita International University (http://www.aiu.ac.jp/) is already well established.
Are you interested in a “classical” University education or in a Liberal Art Education?
Take a sheet of blank paper.
Write in the left row your reasons to study at a “classical" University and in the right row why you prefer a “Liberal Art Education”.
Take a second sheet of a blank paper.
Write in the left row the strength and weakness of “classical" Universities and in the right row you do the same for the Liberal Arts.
Afterwards, compare the sheets.
