Japanese 101 textbook?

Hey guys,

I am planning to self-study Japanese but I don't know which textbook to use. I know Middlebury has one of the best language programs out there so I would like to use the textbook they use. Does anyone know what textbook/supplements they use for Jap 101?

Thanks!

Ohh I wish you took Chinese because I just came back from Middlebury and practiced my Chinese with the Chinese faculty and they showed me the book they use…I could try and find out for you though.

Haha Chinese is my Mother tongue…but would you be able to find out for me what book they use for Japanese??? I’d really appreciate it! Thanks!

Middlebury Japanese 101 students use the New “Genki,” an integrated course in elementary Japanese. They also use the accompanying workbook. Both the textbook and workbook have audio CD’s which are very helpful.
