Japanese Girls at UCSB?

Hey guys i applied to UCI and UCSB where i got in as a Psychology major. I was curious as to how the Asian ethnicity is at UCSB mostly, but if anyone can reply regarding UCI also it would be nice. I ask this because i have noticed in the past few years that out of the "Asian" ethnicity most are Koreans or Chinese and there are not so many Japanese. I enjoy the Japanese language, food, women, and the idea of joining a club. Any information regarding these matters is appreciated!

There are Japanese Americans there and likely students from Japan, however the relative population of China to Japan and the limit of Universities in China for those people means the biggest group of any Asian population at any college is likely to be Chinese. At UCSB I think I saw that 44% of their International Students are from China (mind you their international students don’t make up the largest portion of their Asian ethnic students - Asian Americans do.) My personal experience in California generally is that there is a measurable flavor of Japanese, but that the most ‘ethnic identifying’ (as opposed to just in there with the rest of us) of the Asians tend to be Korean or Chinese.

Thanks for the info. Btw did you or anyone feel that this portion of international students at UCI ( mostly) or UCSB hindered the social aspect due to being more studious or less talkative/outgoing. Im asking becuase im having a hard time choosing between UCSB and UCI. At UCI as you know there are a lot of asians ( which i dont mind) but i worry that UCI’s social scene is not so much and that it could be boring.

I don’t have experience with UCI’s social scene. Its reputation didn’t attract my sons, in that regard, but that might also be because it isn’t in a college town. UCSB has a good social scene. I do know that.
