Japanese Major/Minor?

I plan to either double major in international relations:econ and Japanese or take a minor in Japanese.

Does anybody know how difficult this might be if I double major in IR:econ or Japanese?

How is the program at UCSD?

Any other information about the Japanese major/minor would be helpful.

Thanks

better to ask that question here: www.ucsd.livejournal.com

yeah actually i got admitted to the Japanese studies program at UCSD, haha. I don't know if this department has any merit compared to the scientific subjects at UCSD, and that link didn't work, at least on my computer. Can anyone shed some light on this?

i believe the link is just ucsd.livejournal.com

Why do you guys intend to study japanese-related subjects anyhow? I mean, in Asia, China is actually becoming a world power and has much more potential

^^For me, I was always interested in studying Japan and my native culture, but UCSD doesnt have a Vietnamese program. True, China may have much more potential, but I rather do something that I am interested in.

japanese is still a very useful language if you're going to do international relations

it's very useful to pick a country to focus on when studying international relations because you will be able to have that specialization. i want to do the same thing except i wish UCSD had east asian studies, then i would be able to study all of the east asian countries. but since i will have to choose, im probably going to pick a minor in chinese studies along with international relations as my major.

a minor should not be hard to complete at all especially if you're in muir (very little GEs), like me. doesn't hurt to also have some background in the country you're studying.

I am happy to know that you are interested in Japanese(o^-')b
