Japanese with Listening?

Hello, everybody! :D So I'm quite tempted to take the Japanese with Listening test this coming November, but I'm unsure of whether or not I would do well. I am half Japanese, and understand spoken Japanese quite well, so I am especially confident that I will do well on the listening portion. I also have a good grasp of grammar, so I'm not too worried about that section either. It's the reading section that worries me the most... I can read Hiragana, but I can read very little Katakana, and my Kanji is even worse—I can only read one character! Therein lies my dilemma. D;

Would it still be worth a shot to take the test? Or is doing well on the other two sections not enough to balance an undoubtedly atrocious performance on the reading section? Thank you very much! :D

(Also, I've taken classes before, but that was way back in elementary school; I haven't taken any recently.)

I’m taking it this November. I think that grammar will be very important for the test and that kanji won’t be that hard since most of them have furigana, but you should learn N5 and N4 vocabulary. N3 would be best, but it doesn’t seem like you have that much time.

Hmm, I see, I see… Thank you very much! :smiley: I will definitely take that into consideration, although chances are I simply won’t take the test due to a shortage of time… But thanks again, I really appreciate your response! :)
