Java or MATLAB?

<p>Which one is more useful, Java or matlab?</p>

<p>Matlab is used primarily for sci and engineering. However, Mathworks has toolboxes for every field known to mankind including Computational Finance. I don’t know widely it is used in non sci/eng fields. Matlab is very easy to learn and I use it almost every day.</p>

Java is more useful for programmers, while MATLAB is useful for any general computation since it’s a powerful mathematical software.
It is more common for sci/ engineers.</p>
