Jaywalking? Need some advice.

I was crossing a road (there’s no zebra crossing there, otherwise I would use that), I waited until there was pretty much no car before I started to walk across the road. But this car that was far away didn’t slow down, and it kept honking me, I was already running as fast as I could. After I walked past the road, the car stopped, the driver got out of the car and started to chase me down the street! She was screaming “Don’t you fucking walk in front of me! I have kids in the car!” She also screamed at a passerby “She was fucking jaywalking!”. It was very scary.

I used to live in cities, we walk past roads like that. Is that driver just having a bad day or something? My dad thinks it was probably racism (Asian living in a town that’s 95% white). I seriously don’t know how to walk past a road now. Can someone please give me some advice on how to walk past a road without getting chased down the street? I really apprentice it.

I wouldn’t worry about it. That’s an abnormal response to someone jaywalking.

*appreciate
typing too fast cause I was scared

That was not a normal thing. Sounds like the driver forgot to take her meds that day.

@mn7565 I have encountered all sorts of dumb people, whether it be drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, taxi drivers, etc.

As long as you didn’t dash right in front of her car, her response seems unwarranted.

I personally don’t jaywalk. I also don’t drink, don’t smoke and don’t party. Yep! I am still getting in trouble with the school flawed justice system :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

If there’s no car coming and you are running as fast as you can while they honk, how wide is this road? :). Regardless of the answer, some ppl are just nuts. Forget all about it and move on. Sounds like you didn’t do anything so odd as to merit that response.

Crazy people tend to be intimidated by even crazier people. Next time run towards theme while shouting “Don’t drive where I’m jaywalking!”

LOL, she should be more concerned about throwing the f-word around with kids in the car.
